Products to Resell in 2026

A useful product shortlist starts with evidence from your market. A popular brand or a viral video does not tell you whether you can buy an item cheaply enough, ship it safely and sell it at a profit.

Choose categories you understand

These are research starting points, not a ranking of proven best sellers. Choose the category where you can assess quality and explain the item clearly.

  • Clothing and footwear: compare the exact size, condition and style. Measure garments and photograph wear, labels and soles.
  • Books and hobby items: check the edition, completeness and missing pieces. An incomplete set may sell for much less than a complete one.
  • Home accessories: weigh the packed item. Fragile or bulky goods can cost more to send than their apparent margin allows.
  • Electronics you can test: check functionality, battery condition and included accessories. Record the exact model and any faults.

Compare completed sales

Search for the specific item and inspect recent sold listings. Compare like with like: a sealed product, an open-box item and a damaged one are different offers. Include delivery in the buyer's total and note the country or region of sale.

Collect several relevant examples rather than relying on one unusually high sale. Note the date, condition, delivered price and any detail that makes the example different from your stock. Exclude obvious bundles when you intend to sell a single item.

For eBay research options, see its guide to creating and pricing listings.

Make a research sheet

Give each candidate a row with the exact item, purchase cost, delivery and packaging cost, expected selling fees, comparable sold prices and the amount left after those costs. Add a note about what could go wrong, such as a difficult size, missing accessory or high return cost.

A $40 item with expensive delivery and uncertain condition can be a worse test than a $20 item you can inspect and send cheaply. Compare the money at risk as well as the possible return.

Check timing and product restrictions

Seasonal demand depends on where your buyers live. Compare current evidence with earlier sales instead of carrying a winter shortlist into every season. Leave enough time for stock to arrive before the period you are targeting.

Check your marketplace's product rules before buying. For example, eBay requires genuine items. List branded goods only when you can verify their authenticity.

Test before reordering

Choose a small quantity, inspect it and list it accurately. Record actual costs and the time it takes to sell. Reorder based on that result, not the size of someone else's claimed earnings. The supplier guide covers the next step.
